Most skincare routines fail because they’re based on trends, not science. We’re constantly told which products are “good” for us , but are they really? Flip over any bottle and you’ll see a long list of ingredients, many of which may be secretly irritating your skin. The truth is, no product can work properly if it contains ingredients your body can’t tolerate. 
 

"I found out I was actually intolerant to HA (Hyaluronic Acid), and honestly, it completely threw me. At first I was shocked, but then it started to make sense. I went back over to my shelf, picked up all my creams and serums, and there it was… HA in pretty much every single one of them. No wonder I kept breaking out way past what should have been the purging stage. I kept saying to my friends and family, “I don’t get it, I’m still breaking out in the same spots,” and now I finally knew why.

But that put me in a tough spot (no pun intended). Once I realised I was intolerant to certain ingredients, I couldn’t just go to a shop or order something online, because HA is one of the most common ingredients in cosmetics. It’s used everywhere, both as a main ingredient and as a secondary one. And the few products that didn’t have it made me nervous too, because I hadn’t tested myself against all the other ingredients. I only knew for sure about a handful, so I never felt safe putting them on my skin.

So I ended up making my own cream. I only used ingredients I knew for certain worked with my body, not against it. At first, I went through the purging stage again, and I honestly thought I’d wasted my time all over again. But this time it was different. After about three weeks, the purging stopped. My breakouts disappeared. And my skin just kept getting better from there.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, and it’s definitely been full of trial and error. But after years of frustration, I’ve finally found something that works for me. I can actually see my skin improving, and for once I feel like I’m finally on the right track. That feeling, after everything, is worth everything."
